Free public park with walking trails, bike loop, kid playground, dog area. 10 min drive.

Mount Baldy
Sacred mountain. West Baldy Trail is a serious day hike (14 mi round-trip). Go early. Lower elevation loops are easy. ~50 min.
Sunrise Park Ski Resort
Winter: skiing/snowboarding. Summer: mountain biking, scenic chairlift, hiking. ~45 min.
Apache-Sitgreaves Forest
2.7 million acres of pine forest surrounds you. Endless dispersed camping, hiking, off-roading. Walk into it from town.
Big Lake
Higher elevation, cooler in summer, big trout lake about an hour east. Worth a day trip if you fish.
